How We Fixed It

Demolished a 4x4 section of damaged drywall; performed mold remediation using HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial encapsulant; replaced the legacy washer box with a new recessed unit and stainless steel braided lines; upgraded the electrical circuit with a code-compliant GFCI outlet and new junction box; restored the wall with matching texture and paint.
How to Prevent This
- Replace rubber washer hoses with braided stainless steel every 5-7 years and ensure the washer box valves are fully accessible and turned off if the home is vacant for extended periods.
