Inside corners are coped. Outside corners are mitered with biscuits or pocket screws. Scarf joints are cut and glued — never gapping over time.

Those houses share a set of conditions that shape how trim has to be installed here.
Older Park Cities homes move
A 1930s University Park home has plaster over wood lath, ceiling lines that have settled an inch or more across a room, and framing that was never perfectly plumb to begin with. Trim installed as if the walls were straight will show gaps within a year. We shim, scribe, and cope to the house as it actually sits, which is slower and is the reason the joints stay tight.
Matching existing millwork matters more than choosing new
Most Park Cities projects are partial — a study, a primary suite, a dining room — inside a house that already has original trim in the adjacent rooms. If the new crown is a half-inch off in height or the wrong profile family, the whole floor reads as patched. We profile-match against what's there before we quote.
Newer Dallas construction needs scale, not repair
In newer Preston Hollow and North Dallas builds the problem is the opposite: 10- and 12-foot ceilings wearing builder-grade 3-inch crown that disappears. The fix is stacked or built-up crown, 7- to 8-inch base, and casing sized to the openings so the trim finally matches the volume of the room.
Texas humidity swings are hard on trim
Dallas runs from humid spring to bone-dry August, and wood trim moves with it. We acclimate stock on site before installation, cope inside corners instead of relying on caulk, and glue scarf joints on long runs. That is what separates trim that still looks right in five years from trim that needs re-caulking every spring.
