RadioRA 3 covers most homes under 8,000 sq ft; Homeworks is the wired/hybrid system we install in larger estates and ground-up builds. Control4 is the right answer when distributed audio and video matter as much as lighting — it natively talks to nearly every AV brand and integrates Lutron, Sonos, and cameras under one remote and app. Savant is the right answer when the family prefers an Apple-aesthetic interface and a unified remote that doubles as a phone-style controller. All three platforms run scenes locally — they keep working when the internet goes down — and all three can be voice-controlled through Apple Home, Alexa, or Google.

Why most 'smart home problems' are actually network problems

A keypad that lags, a shade that misses its sunrise cue, a camera that drops at night — nine times out of ten the root cause is the network, not the device. Consumer mesh systems were designed for streaming, not for 80+ always-on IoT clients. Before we add a single device, we assess the existing network and, when needed, install a Ruckus or Ubiquiti UniFi backbone with a wired access point per floor, a VLAN that isolates IoT traffic from your work laptops, and a UPS-protected rack. Build-out vs. retrofit — what to expect either way

On new construction and gut remodels we wire neutrals to every switch box, run Cat6A back to a central rack, and pre-cable for motorized shades — small decisions at frame-out that save five figures later.
